Getting Started

Many of our clients are new to psychological and educational testing and want to learn more before moving forward. Please consider taking a look at our Frequent Questions page or contacting us, either via our Contact Form or by phone. We are here to help and look forward to hearing from you!

All students learn differently, mature academically at different rates, and have natural strengths and weaknesses. However, some students show unexpected difficulties with some aspects of school, despite good motivation and overall learning ability. In some of these situations, a specific learning disorder is the cause. Think of it as a glitch in an otherwise well-functioning system.

If a student is struggling with a learning disorder, early detection is key. An accurate diagnosis allows parents to understand which learning processes are going wrong and, just as importantly, which are going right (usually just about everything else!). It can also reveal what type of extra help, tutoring, or treatment to pursue and help teachers know what kinds of classroom modifications can help students work around the "glitch." Finally, it can save everyone unnecessary confusion and frustration.

The first step is to schedule an initial interview to discuss your concerns, assess the probability that a learning disorder is present, and decide if testing would help clarify things.
